1. The Billy Michal Student Leadership Award is awarded annually to one middle school or high school student from each state and the District of Columbia who demonstrates leadership, teamwork, and service to their school, community, or state. The 2021 Leadership Award will be hosted virtually and students will participate in 3 live leadership sessions, meet WWII Historians, and learn about leadership skills with their co-awardees from across the country. Students will also tune into the American Spirit Awards Luncheon and Leadership Forum where they will virtually meet other awardees such as World War II nurse Lieutenant Rose Bayuk, Holocaust survivor Anne Levy, and NASA mathematician and computer scientist Katherine Johnson.

2. The Student Leadership Academy is the Museum's premier leadership-training program for high school students (10-12 grades) and Freshman undergraduates. The Academy is based on leadership qualities defined by Dwight D. Eisenhower in a 1965 article and supported by today’s best leadership techniques. Each session is rooted in the Museum’s collection; utilizing oral histories, public exhibits, first-person live interviews with World War II and Iraqi Freedom veterans, and behind the scenes views of the collections vault. PLUS Field trips around New Orleans bring the 300 year history of the city to life and offers an unmatched opportunity for place-based learning in one of the most unique places in the United States.
Scholarships are available that cover the full cost of the program (except travel to/from New Orleans)—a $1,200 value! https://www.nationalww2museum.org/events-programs/educational-travel/student-travel-national-wwii-museum/student-leadership-academy
