The AHA has developed a new resource to assist history teachers at all levels facing the challenges of remote instruction. Remote Teaching Resources is a compendium of professionally vetted materials and tools to help historians develop courses and teach remotely in online and hybrid environments. Funded by a National Endowment for the Humanities CARES Grant, Remote Teaching Resources includes accessibility guides, pedagogy resources, and materials specific to a broad range of places, eras, topics, and fields. Resources are currently available in a wide range of formats, including filmed lectures, podcasts, short videos, lesson plans, syllabi, assignments, primary sources with discussion questions, online museum exhibits, maps, and digital history projects useful for instruction.
Additionally, the AHA would welcome additional submissions to Remote Teaching Resources from high school social studies teachers. They are especially looking for the type of materials used in everyday course prep—favorite assignments or activities, syllabi, go-to websites for preparing lesson plans, generative discussion questions tied to particular topics or primary sources, and/or ways to engage students through various platforms.
