Celebrate Women's History Month with the Kennedy Center

March is Women's History Month, with International Women's Day on March 8, and the Global Women's Studies program (GWS) is recognizing this time with a month of lectures and activities, including an online GWS social and a panel discussion. A highlight of the month will be a screening of Warrior Women, a documentary about Native American civil rights activists Madonna Thunder Hawk and Marcella Gilbert, followed by a Q&A with Thunder Hawk. You can find a full list of events here. In addition, continuing this month and running through the first week of April is the Winter 2021 Global Women's Studies Colloquium.

This lecture series runs each fall and winter semester and features a variety of lecturers and topics relating to women's issues. All friends and members of the BYU community are welcome to attend; check out this semester's schedule here, and tune in on Zoom every other Thursday at 12 p.m. MST to hear this semester's lectures. 2021 marks thirty years of GWS; it began as the Women's Studies minor in 1991 and became the Global Women's Studies minor in 2017, when it moved to the Kennedy Center. For thirty years, it has trained students to examine issues from unique historical and contemporary perspectives, preparing them for successful careers in a wide variety of fields.
