Last month, the JFK Library was thrilled to announce the 2021 Profile In Courage Essay Contest is now accepting submissions from high school students. Whether you are teaching virtually or in the classroom -- there’s no question this school year is unlike anything we’ve experienced before, which is why we believe that uplifting stories of political courage is truly more important than ever.
Acts of political courage have the power to teach lessons in leadership, service, and integrity. That’s why we are encouraging teachers and administrators like yourself to help students share these stories, with the chance to win money for college.
If you haven’t already, we encourage you to download a Helpful Tips classroom poster to share with your students. You can also sign up for a hardcopy contest brochure.
Winning essays should describe the stories of lesser-known leaders who served the years after 1917, the year of President Kennedy’s birth. They should also analyze an act of political courage through the support of credible sources. Visit our homepage for more details regarding requirements, details, and past winning essays.
We applaud your courage at this challenging time and hope that you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy. As always, we will keep you informed of new updates as we approach the holidays and January 15, 2021 deadline.
